1 Carat Round Cut Diamonds

Weight, Not Size
Carat measures weight, not physical size. One carat equals 0.2 grams. This is why two 1 carat diamonds can sometimes look slightly different depending on their cut and proportions.

The Actual Measurement
A 1 carat round cut diamond typically measures about 6.5mm in diameter, roughly the size of a small pea or a pencil eraser. It’s substantial enough to make a statement, yet balanced enough for everyday wear.

Why It Looks Even Bigger
Round cuts are faceted for maximum brilliance, so the diamond often appears larger and more radiant than its measurements suggest. A classic solitaire setting can enhance this effect further, like in our Elswin solitaire setting, keeping all the attention on the stone and making it the true focal point of the ring.

Every 1 carat round diamond we select is evaluated for its proportions before it ever reaches a setting. Our jewellers look closely at facet alignment and symmetry, since even slight misalignment can stop light from reflecting correctly inside the stone.

The diamond is then hand-set by our craftsmen to allow maximum light to enter and exit. Details like prong height and placement are adjusted individually so the metal never covers the facets, as seen in our round solitaire rose gold engagement ring, letting light reach the stone from more directions and reflect back out just as freely.
